Update: February 2012

International Futures Training in South Africa

Barry B Hughes and Jonathan D Moyer co-led a four day training for the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) of the Republic of South Africa from February 13-16, 2012. The event focused on three policy relevant themes for DIRCO staff: vulnerability to domestic instability across Africa, infrastructure development and a green revolution. The Institute for Security Studies and the Pardee Center would like to thank the British High Commission for funding the event and related capacity building projects.

Launch of African Futures Project Website

The African Futures Project—a collaboration between the Pardee Center for International Futures and the Institute for Security Studies—is proud to launch a new website. The site allows visitors to get into the International Futures model results easily and quickly. Other features include information on publications, a news-feed, a discussion forum and short personnel biographies.

Public Presentation of African Futures Project

African Futures Project personnel enjoyed a well attended public presentation at the Institute for Security Studies home offices in Pretoria, South Africa on February 17, 2012. The event introduced a three minute video on the future of Africa. The full presentations of Jakkie Cilliers, Barry Hughes, Jonathan Moyer and Erin Torkelson can be found online as well.
