Jessica graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in 2009 with a B.A. in English and an honors certificate in Latin American Studies. As an undergraduate student, she was a member of The Pearl Project, a journalistic investigation into the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan in 2002. After graduating, she joined the politics and policy staff of U.S. News & World Report, where she reported on national topics such as energy, foreign affairs, and elections. She has also contributed to various other domestic and international publications, including World Politics Review and The National, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Journalism and Women Symposium.

Jessica enrolled in the Korbel School of International Studies in 2012 as a Sié Chéou-Kang Fellow and began work as a Research Assistant with the Pardee Center in August of 2012.
