Ara began at the Josef Korbel School in Fall 2012, pursuing a M.A. in International Development.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature at Seoul National University in South Korea. While in college, she spent one year studying Mandarin in China. Her travel to many different regions in China, Tibet and Nepal has inspired her to pursue further study on International Development and Human Rights.
After graduation, she worked for over three years in Global Product Management at Samsung Electronics, and gained project management and data analysis skills.
Her current research interests include poverty reduction and women’s economic empowerment. She eventually expects to find herself working as a program manager who improves women’s lives in developing countries, helping them acquire practical skills to establish more secure and sustainable livelihoods.
