After graduating cum laude from UCSD, Hanna volunteered for the International Rescue Committee's Immigration offices in San Diego and interned for the Carter Center's Conflict Resolution Program in 2008. During her internship, she wrote briefing papers on the conflicts in Burma and Cyprus, and assisted with the Program's work in Lebanon and Syria. She then worked as a Program Assistant with the US Human Rights Network, an Atlanta-based NGO, before moving to Syria to study Arabic in 2009. While in Damascus she also worked as a writer and international news editor for a local English-language newspaper.
Hanna enrolled in the Korbel School of International Studies in 2011 as a Sié Chéou-Kang Fellow, and began work as a Research Assistant with the Pardee Center in August of 2011. Her research interests include the economic and political development of the Middle East.
